Leroy Merlin is a French company specialized in DIY, home decor and home furnishings. It has more than 464 stores in 14 countries and employs 70,000 people around the world. With a turnover of more than 10 billion euros per year, it remains the leader in its sector.
Social Learning at the heart of training at Leroy Merlin: learning together, even remotely
“When we started working with Beedeez, we started by making it available on the internal store to see the enthusiasm of the teams. In a few months, we were already at more than 2,000 employees who had downloaded and consumed content on the application.”
The challenge
At Leroy Merlin, the training was based on a traditional LMS: long content, face-to-face sessions, an unengaging experience, and above all... accessible only from a shared computer in the break room. Not exactly ideal for training field, mobile teams with variable schedules.
So a question arose: how to effectively train store employees, as close as possible to their reality on the ground?
For Leroy Merlin, there is no question of replacing the existing LMS. The objective was to capitalize on current content. And for that, it was necessary to use a Mobile Learning solution that matches the way employees work in the field, while remaining adapted to employees at the head office.
Leroy Merlin's main challenge was to find a solution that:
➡️ Integrates and enhances the existing LMS
➡️ Deliver training courses quickly and as close as possible to employees
➡️ Facilitates access to training, at the right time and in the right place
➡️ Respond to field uses and the practices of mobile teams
➡️ Promotes learning between learners
The deployment of Beedeez
To respond quickly to this major challenge, who better than Beedeez — the LMS for field teams?
Specializing in Mobile Learning since 2015, we have been able to meet the challenges of Leroy Merlin by providing them with a solution designed for the field:
✔️ A simple and intuitive authoring tool that allows you to create content quickly and easily
✔️ Tips & Battle features — co-created with Leroy Merlin, to promote peer-to-peer learning
✔️ An application available on all devices everywhere and all the time, even offline
✔️ Accessible training courses by scanning product barcodes
✔️ An integration of the existing LMS, in order to offer a Seamless course to learners
The results
A study carried out internally by the educational teams revealed that store employees only have an average of 4 minutes per day to train. An important constraint that requires rethinking the approach to training in the field.
Faced with this alarming observation, it became clear that traditional training methods, which were often long and not very flexible, no longer met the needs of store teams.
Thanks to its short and field-oriented formats, Beedeez was able to integrate perfectly into the daily life of these teams at the front.
Results? Digestable, shorter, easy to remember content but above all better trained learners. Because no, training is not an office privilege.
